I have today received telegram from the Governor of Hong Kong asking whether I will receive emissary from Yunanese Governor of Teng who is anxious to obtain our support in fighting Bolshevism in the South While Chang and Wu-Pei-Fu fight Feng in the North. Governor who has luformed him that Hong Kong Government cannot assist adds that unless Cantonese by themselves turn out extremists now in power there, combination proposed seems only alter- native to armed intervention by the Powers.

I have replied that I see no object in receiving. emisacry as it is useless for him to hope for British. support.
